50 Dice Activities is a set of 50 double-sided activity cards by Junior Learning to help children learn various essential numeracy skills with dice! Alongside the activity cards is a contents card with a check-off list so you can keep track of what has been taught. This check off list includes the activity name as well as the objective (e.g. addition or number recognition) so you can theme activities and make progression plans around specific mathematical concepts.
Variety of Concepts
Topics included in the cards are all essential building blocks that will help children aged 5+ to learn and apply mathematic skills, including the following: addition, subtraction, counting, probability, number bonds, equivalence, skip counting, multiplication, division and probability. The cards and activities are age appropriate and a lot of fun, turning maths concepts into fun and creative games and challenges that children will love!
The Cards
On each card, one side describes the activity, including the teaching objective (e.g. addition), resources (what you will need to complete the activity), and procedure (simple steps describing how to play). In the top corner, the resources are also pictured so you can quickly see what you need. The reverse side of the card provides visual examples, which are helpful to show children how to play.
An example of an activity is rolling a die to colour in a snake. The children will roll the die and colour in the same number of ‘segments’ as shown on the die, helping them learn how to count whilst also having fun colouring in. Other cards are similar to games such as countdown that teachers and children will find familiar and therefore easier to teach and learn. Numeracy manipulatives are effectively used throughout the cards and presented with clear photography.
Dice not included.
