The Howarth Mini-bassoon outfit has been designed specifically for the younger player. It is smaller and lighter than a standard bassoon - the Howarth Academy bassoon model is 3.2Kg in weight, the Mini-bassoon outfit only 1.05kg!
It features a much refined bore design, including down-bore and finger holes which are lined with ebonite. The instrument sounds a 5th higher than a standard bassoon but includes keywork much like more advanced models which creates an easy transition as the player progresses.
