Numicon is an award-winning primary maths resource that uses a multi-sensory approach to help children think mathematically. Patterns
A visual aid like Numicon works because of patterns, which are inherent in mathematical equations and universally understood by the human brain. When children observe the patterns and grasp how and why one number is bigger than the other, or why equations result in specific answers, this understanding can be applied to more complex maths in the future. This logic can then be applied to other areas outside of mathematics, such as reasoning and critical thinking.

Concepts Taught
Specifically, Numicon teaches number bonds and why there is often more than one right answer, visually counting by recognising colours and patterns, and simple addition, subtraction, doubling and halving.
