Philip Harris Alpha Scattering Apparatus (Analogue)
Findel See all from this supplier
This Alpha Scattering Apparatus is for demonstrating Rutherford scattering by means of a gravitational analogue of inverse square law repulsion.
The apparatus comprises a spun aluminium hill, a 12.5mm steel ball and a wooden launching ramp. The shape has been determined by varying its height above the base line by an amount based upon the reciprocal of the radius.
The launching ramp has a guide groove down its curved front face and index marks at 40mm, 60mm, 80mm and 100mm above the base to give a variety of known launching heights.
- Aluminium Hill Dimensions: (D)280mm x (H)60mm
- Launching Ramp Dimensions: (L)300mm x (W)48mm x (H)105mm
