The Melodica, or Pianica as it is sometimes known, is a wind instrument that works in a similar way to a harmonica. The instrument has a piano keyboard on top and when you blow through the Melodica and press the piano keys, air is allowed to flow through holes and over fitted reeds - it is this which produces the sound.
