Introducing the Trevor James 10XP flute outfit
The TJ10XP models are still the best student 'first' flute available today, now with an even better design and premium features. Previously exclusively reserved for the Trevor James step-up and professional models, these design improvements are what set the TJ10XP apart from the rest.
This is the only student flute to feature French-style pointed key arms, typically only included in professional models. Not only does this aid in playing technique right from the start, it also ensures a smooth transition to a step-up or professional model when progressing.
The TJ10XP flute continues to be a very free blowing and high-quality silver-plated instrument with a 925 silver lip plate and riser. It is supplied as an outfit with hard case, fleece lined case cover, and all the necessary cleaning equipment.
"What a fantastic flute! I recommend the TJ10X flute as the best 'first' flute above all others"
Clare Southworth - Professor of Flute, Royal Academy of Music, London
925 silver lip plate and riser
The 10XP flute has a specially shaped lip plate & riser that gives the new, or returning player, the benefit of having an immediate & free blowing sound, especially in the lower tonal range. Plus, the ‘925’ silver delivers a warmer sound and an extended range of tonal possibilities.
As it involves pressing most, if not all of the keys lower notes are notoriously hard for the beginner flautist. This 'shaped' lip, unique to the TJ10XP, opens up the lower register for a consistent tone across the full range of the flute.
French-style pointed key arm mechanism
Connecting the keys to the body of the flute, pointed key arms strengthen the mechanism making for a stronger and tighter key placement, drastically reducing leaks and squeaks! They also result in excellent intonation and aid in the development of fast techniques, standing you in good stead for those more challenging passages.
Professional pads for increased consistency
The new TJ10XP flute benefits from the same high-quality Italian ‘Pisoni’ pads that are usually the preserve of much more expensive flutes. These ensure a perfect seal for immediate sound production when pressed. They also have a significantly longer life span than the inferior pads often found on student instruments.
Impressive tonal quality
Trevor James Flutes use Japanese tubing which is known for both its structural integrity and resonant quality. Generally, only used by the premium, professional Japanese flute brands, this tubing forms the very core of each TJ flute, and along with the head joint, explains why the 10XP flute is regarded as the best sounding student flute available.
Silver plating that will last
You can be safe in the knowledge that the 10XP has a triple plated finish on its tubing, ensuring a long lasting finish. After much research, Trevor James discovered that by copper-plating the nickel tubing first, the subsequent two layers of silver-plate are rock solid, giving you the most durable finish of any student flute.
