The handcrafted Yamaha SE122 upright piano is hailed as a unique collaboration between East and West, an exquisite quality upright piano designed to take on rival instruments from the likes of Bechstein and Bluthner. The SE122 combines Japanese engineering with European components and is hand assembled from the finest materials including a Renner action, hand wound strings and a solid Bavarian spruce soundboard, all specially selected for this model.
Uniquely, the SE122 has the same key length as the larger SE132 model giving this piano a class leading level of response, similar to a grand piano while remaining compact and a great domestic size.

The Yamaha SE Series is a superb blend of Japanese precision engineering and European piano building heritage. European tonewoods and a Yamaha action are assembled at Yamaha's concert grand facility in Hamamatsu, Japan.
Bespoke handcrafting and refinement
The Yamaha SE Series is handmade by the same artisan craftsmen who produce the class leading CF Series concert grand pianos. Wooden components come from Yamaha's wood processing plant in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, including the solid Bavarian spruce soundboard. These parts are specially selected for maturity and harmonic quality.
Superior component quality
The finest European hammers, made by Renner, are selected for the SE series, along with hand-spun Bösendorfer bass strings for a distinctly European tonal quality.
Luxurious, elegant cabinetry
Yamaha SE Series pianos are beautifully proportioned, with luxurious touches including a leather lined music desk and a soft-close fallboard which retracts into the cabinet of the piano to avoid spoiling the elegant, classic upright styling.
Low maintenance costs
Each instrument leaves Yamaha workshops in optimum condition, with the highest level of quality control and ready for a lifetime of service. The piano is then bespoke-prepared by our in house technical team prior to sale to bring out the very best qualities of each individual instrument.
