Players around the world know Yamaha baritone saxophones for their outstanding sound. In the YBS-480 Yamaha refreshes the traditional image of these instruments with powerful yet delicate tone and exceptional playability.
Following on from the previous YBS-32 model, this new entry level baritone really packs a punch. Benefiting from many of the same features as their much loved professional 62 and 82 bari's, the 480 is primarily optimised for amateur players and brand new beginners.
The weight of the saxophone has been finely balanced to give a fantastic playing feel, whilst the new position of the strap ring makes playing more comfortable than ever. The configuration of the bell and new key layout have also been revised for more comfortable hold and stable pitch - a great advantage for first-time baritone sax players.
The revised key layout
Not only have Yamaha used more lightweight keys and new support components, they have also refined the overall balance of the mechanism for a more natural, stress-free hand positioning and smoother playability.
New designs have been implemented especially on the front F, low A, octave key, palm keys, as well as the upper and lower table keys.
A new and improved bell design
Commonly a challenge to produce as a beginner, the low-range of a bari sax is often unstable and lacking in tonal stability for an inexperienced player. To aid in combating this challenge, Yamaha have designed a new, shorter, two-piece bell helping to deliver that desired stable and consistent tone in the lower register.
Included accessories
The YBS480 comes with a Yamaha 5C mouthpiece as standard, a well as a BSC-41III hard case with a sturdy build and professional look.
