Introducing the Yamaha YBS-62II professional baritone saxophone
The 62 baritone sax is a legend in its own right. Played by amateurs and professionals alike, it's still one of the most respected baritone saxes in the market today. Yamaha have worked to continuously improve this well-loved model, and the newest incarnation certainly delivers.
They have reduced the weight of the keys whilst at the same time re-designing keys to help relieve player’s hand tension that comes with playing such a large instruments. To further reduce weight the bell length has been optimised to help the instrument be as light as possible and still offer consistency in tone throughout the registers.
It is evident player comfort has been at the forefront of the new designs. The new positioning of the strap ring further demonstrates this, giving players a better weight distribution and fantastic playing feel.
The revised key layout
Not only have Yamaha used more lightweight keys and new support components, they have also refined the overall balance of the mechanism for a more natural, stress-free hand positioning and smoother playability.
New designs have been implemented especially on the front F, low A, octave key, palm keys, as well as the upper and lower table keys.
A new and improved bell design
The new, shorter, two-piece bell helps to reduce weight of the saxophone. However, what is reduced in weight is gained in playability - the new style bell making it easier than ever to navigate the infamously tricky lower range of the instrument.
